    He’s even better than Conrad Birdie. I mean, Comrade Birdie. If such a thing is possible.

    • Well, I’ll let aside the potential jealousy factor – he does have the voice of an angel – and admit that you might have a point, big brother-wise. This gem was from Soviet TV, circa 1976, and the lyrics to that song, about a cowboy out on the range and his wife at home waiting for him whilst darning socks, were deemed subversive. I can see that. So they were allowed to perform the song so long as they didn’t sing it. Hence this, er, oddity. And may I add that old Ed, the feller what sung the non-song, was a HUGE star on Soviet radio at the time. And he sure had the face for it, too. Dosvedanya, comrade!
